Netball positions explained: which one suits you?

Netball has seven positions and each one only goes in certain thirds of the court. Pick the wrong one and you'll spend the game frustrated. Pick the right one and you'll fall in love with it.

Shooters: GS and GA

Goal Shoot (GS) lives in the circle. Tall, calm, holds space, finishes under pressure. Goal Attack (GA) is the creative shooter — moves between the centre third and the circle, links play and finishes.

Mid-courters: WA, C, WD

Wing Attack feeds the circle. Centre is the engine — covers the most ground on court. Wing Defence reads the game and shuts down WA.

Defenders: GD and GK

Goal Defence is the agile defender, contesting the GA. Goal Keeper anchors the circle, blocks the shot and starts the counter.
